The Story of Diva and Flea is a beautiful story for children the ages of 6-8 grades 1-3 to read about an adventure into friendship. The setting for the story is Paris France shown by artful illustrations of everything that any sophisticated or otherwise reader might have imagined. Readers will experience an adventure while reading this easy reader chapter book with lots of words for them to easily sound out and just enough pictures to keep their imagination flowing. Children may notice with amazement that the illustrations have been pencil drawn with a bit of color added for a realistic appearance.The narrator’s voice is heard immediately, as the friendship between characters, a cat and a dog, develops. They are both likable, Diva and Flea, in different unique ways. The Story of Diva and Flea as told and shown by Mo Willems and Tony Diterlizzi is enjoyable for anyone to read.

Any faithful bedtime storybook listening four-year old who is at first glance uninterested in such a wordy book, will hope, after hearing about three chapters that he will hear whole story. Keep reading and when they approve of the illustrations after asking to look at the pictures, know that is a good brain exercise for imagination development.

The creators of The Story of Diva and Flea are first of all six-time¬†Emmy Award winner of the Academy of Television Arts and Science prize for prime time television excellence and former writer for Sesame Street, Mo Willems. He also has been awarded three Caldecott Honor medals in children’s literature, awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children a division of the American Library Association to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. He worked in collaboration with none other than Illustrator Tony Diterlizzi who has been awarded a Caldecott Honor as well. Tony may be best known for his chapterbook series “The Spiderwick Chronicles”. He has also worked as a writer and illustrator of children’s books for Simon and Schuster in New York City, N.Y.
